Forever, and Tonight

I wrote this on a whim, and I think that it's probably very lame, but I haven't REALLY written in awhile, so this is a first for me in a few months...

It’s a shame that such a fantastic girl
Would just fall and go to waste
Yet none can see past the simple smile
Plastered on her pretty face

“I’m fine,” she says, and marches on
Just right, so they believe her
All she knows is pain she can’t see beyond
And the gift she won’t take is so much sweeter

Darling,
Can’t you see?
God is waiting for you to seek Him
Deny and you shall surely die
Accept and you’ll finally be free!

She watches, unsurprised, as fighting ensues
Her two circles hate each other
So fights are nothing new

She often sits and wonders why
She’s never picked a side
They’ve all asked her to join in,
And each time she denies

Darling,
Don’t you know?
Jesus wants you to love Him
The way He loves you
This isn’t how He wants your life to go!

She’s the girl who longs for “the one” to come
And sweep her off her feet
Each time she thinks he’s come along,
His real intentions are discreet

She’s the girl who’s sitting on her bed tonight,
With a bottle in one hand,
And scissors in the other
Her sleeves are rolled up
Revealing the scars of a “cutter”

As she looks at the bottle,
And thinks of the pills,
Her hands start to shake
And the bottle spills
And she looks in the mirror across from her bed
As a new voice shouts inside her head

It tells her to stop, put the pills away
And go to sleep, it was just a bad day
It says “Trust in Me, in your darkest hour,
And you will be rewarded.”
In the Voice she feels so much power

She closes the pills and falls on her knees
And as she prays, tears run down her face
And her soul is freed

Darling,
Please don’t cry
For your God is with you
Forever, and tonight
